Why Airship?

“Why Airship?”

I haven’t been asked that question nearly as much as I feel I should have considering that Airship is a seemingly random name when you think about it.

I’ve always had a fascination with history. I love learning about how things used to be and the challenges of the past.

The idea of climbing into a zeppelin and crossing the Atlantic or the country in what is essentially a cruise ship in the sky just sounds so amazing to me. Airships were so innovative, the first form of controlled air travel, and were a testament to human ingenuity. They are a wonderful part of our history from an adventurous era gone by.

But why name my company after an outmoded and dangerous form of air travel?

I wanted to capture the spirit of innovation and adventure that airships exemplified in their heyday. Starting Airship is going to be an adventure in and of itself. A journey into the unknown. It may take some time to get my bearings, but I’m determined to get this business off the ground.

Now you know the “why” behind Airship, but what is Airship all about?

Airship is a design studio focused on designing high-quality visual identities that build audiences through storytelling and unique personality to make real connections.

Authenticity is very important to me. People can sense insincerity, whether it’s coming from a person or a business. You can’t build trust without authenticity and honesty, and trust is how meaningful connections happen.

If there’s one thing I want Airship to represent, it’s to be completely authentic. In both how I do business and in the things I design. These are my core values. These are the things that shape my brand and how people will come to view my company. By defining my story and establishing these values for everyone to see, I’m making a commitment to you that these things are of the highest importance to me.

Even in this uncertain time in my life starting this new adventure, I will continue to stick to my values, do the best work I possibly can, and teach as much as I can along the way. I encourage you to define your own values as well. You’ll learn a lot about what’s most important to you and it will give a compass to follow as you grow. Be authentic. Be great.
